Die Sunlight Foundation wird in Partnerschaft mit Google, Mozilla, Fedora und Redhat, am 12. und 13. Dezember einen landesweiten, dezentralen “Hackaton” veranstalten: The Great American Hackathon Die Idee ist an einem Wochenende Programmierer und Hacker zusammenzubringen um an Apps, Gadgets, Websites zu arbeiten die die Transparenz der Regierung verbessern helfen. Es gibt schon einige Vorschläge für Projekte. Mein Favorit:
A tool for reporting online privacy violations to the FTC and simultaneously blowing the whistle to all your friends on your favorite social networks? That’s one cool idea. A tool for making Layar Augmented Reality endpoints easily in Django? People would eat that up. (And build projects like Sunlight’s AR Recovery.gov.) A Python wrapper for Sunlight’s competitor to Data.gov, the National Data Catolog API? A computer assisted researcher’s dream come true!
Es wird bestimmt eine Menge von Innovationen geben, an die bis heute noch niemand gedacht hat. Wir dürfen gespannt sein.
