This year FutureEverything has a special focus on Open Data

FutureEverything is amongst the organisations leading the charge towards the creation of Open Data Cities in the UK. We are championing the move to a more transparent, innovative and equitable culture through the opening up of publicly held datasets in accessible formats.

We live in an increasingly data-driven society, the choices that we make and the places we go, leave a data footprint that is indexed, tabulated and archived. When semantically organised, the data can be exposed, shared, and interconnected. By opening up of these huge datasets we create the space that will allow new ways for individuals, organisations and public bodies to interact. Giving people the right kind of access to this information can spark new applications and services, new ways of living, creating and being.

Through advocacy, artworks, toolkits development support and public discussion we aim to enable Manchester to become an exemplar of Open Data practice. This is a long term initiative and working with the various communities within Manchester and beyond we expect to see many FutureEverything events and artworks in this space in the coming years.
